Happy Mail Ideas

For this week’s blog entry, I would like to look back at Wednesday’s video (note that there is a new video up today, too!) In Wednesday’s video, Bryonna shares three ideas for Happy Mail. Happy Mail is always a fun project because it means sending something to the pen pal.

In this tutorial, Bryonna makes a Happy Mail full of stationery and ephemera. The video overviews a few great ideas for the Happy Mail:

1)    Sending mixed papers for your pen pal to collage with!

2)    Binding mixed papers into a DIY envelope (decorated with washi, wax seal, and vintage stickers)!

3)    Making a transparent card and trifold pocket!

Don’t worry if you don’t have a pen pal. Everything in this video tutorial can be used in your own personal junk journal. Now, check out the video linked below and get inspired to create something new!

Making a Glue Book

In our most recent video, Bryonna makes a glue book. According to her, the difference between a junk journal and a glue book is that a glue book is a more relaxed way to use your “stash.” So, have fun with this tutorial!

Follow along with Bryonna as she creates four collages in a three ringed binder. She uses a variety of materials in this project. The materials used include various papers, cut-outs from magazines, pictures from an old book, pressed flowers, and much more. Watch the video to see everything she used and to get some creative inspiration.

Also, there is a prompt included in the tutorial to practice your design skills using a design grid layout. It’s common to get into the habit of using the same spread over and over, albeit with different materials. Let the prompt inspire you to try some new things this week.

Pop-Up Christmas Card

This week, Bree shows how to make a pop-up Christmas card. As usual, a number of other crafting techniques are demonstrated as well. See a collage made with stickers from the Antiquarian Sticker Book. Also, watch Bree create DIY marbled paper.

Follow along with Bree to make your own pop-up Christmas cards this holiday season. Sending your friends and family handmade pop-up cards is a fun and creative way to spread a little joy this Christmas.

Making a Mini Booklet for Your Junk Journal

Last week we posted the first part in a series of videos. In the first of the series, we went through how to make a junk journal. This week, we add to it. We like to fill our junk journals with a lot of fun stuff. With that in mind, a great thing to include in your junk journal is a mini-booklet. The options are limitless, but in this week’s video we show you how to create a booklet with a window in the cover (there is also collage involved, so … fun!).

See the video below and follow along with Bree as she creates a mini booklet for the junk journal. Like, follow, and subscribe to catch all of our videos when they come out. Also, feel free to send us a message or leave a comment. We would love to see any suggestions for book projects!
